No person may alter the procedures, policies or prices stated in this book
except the Chief Instructor. When a revision is granted it will be done in writing.
SCHOOL CALENDAR Students may enroll in
courses anytime. Aero-Tech conducts year-round flight training. Most lessons are scheduled in two-hour blocks, by appointment. We observe and are closed Thanksgiving Day, ½ day on Christmas Eve and
all day Christmas Day, but are open for training on all other holidays.
ENROLLMENT Upon enrollment, the student is required to pay an
insurance fee, startup pilot supply fee and ground school. Prior to beginning training you must hold a first or second class FAA medical certificate from an approved FAA medical examiner. A third class medical
certificate does not qualify! Additionally, your FAA medical certificate must remain current throughout the entire flight training program. A list of FAA medical examiners in your area is available at Aero-Tech.
HOW TO APPLY Your first step is to verify that you have VA benefits available. Your eligibility for VA benefits and the maximum amount
available can be confirmed with your local VA office at 1-800-827-1000, prior to enrollment. If you have never used educational benefits, the Application for VA Benefits Form is available on-line at
www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/22-1990.pdf
If you have previously used VA benefits at any other educational institution (flight training or otherwise), you must submit a "Change of Place of Training" VA Form DD
22-1995. This form is available on-line at www.vba.va.gov/pubs/forms/22-1995.pdf
Next we need your military documentation: 1. If active duty military: An Application for Benefits DD 1990, signed by
your commander. This form is available at http://www.va.gov/forms/data/221990p1.gif 2. If you are separated or retired military: a copy of your DD 214 Form.
3. If you are a reservist, you must provide a DD 2384, Notice of Eligibility.
The Aero-Tech Veterans Official will complete the VA Enrollment Form (DD 22-1999). We send everything to the VA for their final
approval of benefits. The VA will send an award letter stating that your application and enrollment have been approved. This process can take from three to six weeks.
Aero-Tech will allow you to enroll and
begin training before your award letter has been approved, however the VA will only begin benefits after the approval date with one exception; The VA does not allow an applicant to be enrolled in more than one
course at a time. Students may be co-enrolled in the Instrument and the Commercial Courses. Before enrolling in another course, you must either graduate from the course or the Aero-Tech Veterans Official must
officially notify the VA by letter of the change of course.
QUALIFYING CHAPTERS
- CHAPTER 30: Montgomery GI Bill (active duty). Entered active duty
after June 30, 1985 and in some cases, entered active duty before January 1, 1977.
- CHAPTER 32: Educational Assistance Program (VEAP). Veterans who
entered between January 1, 1977 and June 30, 1985.
- CHAPTER 1606: Selected Reserve. Applies to reservists, including
national guard, who have a six-year obligation to serve after June 30, 1985.
Eligible students must have an appropriate vocational objective. Training
for ancillary, avocation or recreational purposes are not approved for your VA benefits.
PAYMENT POLICY It is important to understand
that the total cost of each course cannot be determined in advance. Students must train to FAA Practical Test Standards and progress depends on background, aptitude, and motivation. Additional training, beyond
course minimums, may be required to reach proficiency.
Payments for all accumulated fees are due upon completion of each lesson. The VA makes reimbursement to you monthly. If funds are deposited
into an open account, the student will be notified when nearing a zero balance so additional funds can be deposited. Aero-Tech accepts several student loan programs that may deposit funds into an open account on
behalf of the student.
The number of approved hours reimbursed by the VA is based on the FARs Part 141 Appendices. The VA does not reimburse for books, training materials, FAA knowledge exams, checkrides, or
the aircraft rental expense for checkrides. The total VA program cost for each course is published in this catalog. For information or for resolution of specific payment problems, veterans should call the local VA
Office or the National VA Office at 1-888-442-4551.
REFUND POLICY Aero-Tech will refund the pro rated portion of the unused tuition and
fees in the event you fail to enter the course, withdraw or are discontinued at any time prior to completion. Refunds are pro rated based on length of the completed portion of the course. Refunds will only
be made after all invoices and charges have been posted at the end of each month. Students who receive state or federal funding and who wish to withdraw will have refunds issued to the issuing agency.
CANCELLATION & TARDINESS POLICY Aero-Tech works hard to honor each of our appointments. We respect the value of your time. If our
instructor is more than 15 minutes late in starting a lesson with you, you will receive two-hours of instruction, without instructor fee. While we understand that you may develop a favorite instructor
and/or aircraft, you will not always be scheduled with the same instructor. We feel that a different instructor every five hours of training reduces learning plateaus and adds perspective. If you arrive
more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, the instructor fees for your lesson will begin at the original appointment time. Accumulated fees must be paid before additional services can be scheduled.
REIMBURSEMENT TO VETERANS AND RESERVISTS The US Department of Veterans Affairs will reimburse an enrolled veteran and eligible person for dual flight and
ground training at the rate of 60%. The allowance is paid monthly by the VA to the student based upon actual training certified by the flight school as indicated on VA Form 22-6553c, Monthly Certification of Flight
Training. No reimbursement is made for examination fees, books or other charges.
MAXIMUM REIMBURSEMENT COST Maximum reimbursable costs
are based on the most expensive aircraft approved for a course. For example, a Commercial Pilot course may be approved for 85 hours of solo flight training in a BE76 at $290.00 per hour. However, a student will
typically fly a far less expensive aircraft such as the Cessna 172. Specific aircraft rates are available in the course descriptions contained in this Catalog.
Maximum Total Cost pricing is a means of
providing flexibility to students in choosing training aircraft within the limitations of the FAR and the FAA-approved curriculum to meet the needs of the individual student. Maximum Total Cost pricing is based on
the most expensive aircraft authorized for the course. For example, if a course requires 25 hours of flight but only five hours in a 600 horsepower aircraft, (the rest in lesser horsepower aircraft) the entire
Maximum Total Cost for the course is figured on approved hourly rates for the 600 horsepower aircraft.
FLIGHT TRAINING RECORD Aero-Tech
maintains a permanent Flight Training Record that documents the progress of each student. While the logbook belongs to the student, the Flight Training Record is the property of the flight school. A copy of this
record will be made available to the student upon request.
GRADING PROCEDURE Each pilot must achieve the same standard of proficiency on
each flight task prior to being issued a pilot certificate by the FAA. These standards are clearly defined in the FAA document, Practical Test Standards. Separate standards have been identified for each
course and a copy of the Practical Test Standards is included in the training materials list. Aero-Tech grades each task on each lesson according to the Practical Test Standards. Grades for each maneuver
are recorded on the student's Flight Training Record.
CONDUCT POLICY Any student with three (3) Cancellation Fees in a calendar month is subject to
dismissal. All students must comply with Federal Aviation Regulations, all airport rules, and the rules of safety. Instruction will be given in these rules and regulations upon enrollment and appropriately
from time to time thereafter. Constant or flagrant violation will be grounds for immediate dismissal.
ATTENDANCE POLICY Aero-Tech
is very flexible and will strive to meet each of your scheduling concerns, however, we feel strongly that a minimum level of schedule discipline is required for satisfactory progress. Students are required to
fly at least 20 HOBBS hours in the previous 90 days (excepting weather and health restrictions). These hours may be flown in the aircraft or in the flight simulator. In case of health restrictions, or
while taking any medication that may affect your judgement or reflexes, you are not eligible for flight; instead, you will receive a schedule of ground training to be completed to meet the attendance requirements.
STUDENT PROGRESS STANDARDS The evaluation of a pilot trainee's ability to perform individual maneuvers or tasks, as well
as overall progress, will be evaluated after each dual flight and logged in the student's training record. The VA requires steady, satisfacory progress as outlined below in order to maintain enrollment in the
program.
A student is considered to be making satisfactory progress when: 1. The student flies at least 20 hours per quarter.
2. The student completes all ground instruction and passes a Block Quiz or Final Exam for any phase of training. 3. The student passes any progress check.
Any student who is considered to be making
un-satisfactory progress will be terminated from training. The student will be reported to the Veteran Affairs Regional Office on the next "monthly Certification of Training Report", VA 22-6553c. Students
may also be terminated for willful violation of FAR's or the policies and procedures of Aero-Tech, Inc. Students may be re-enrolled only after evidence is shown that the conditions causing the
unsatisfactory situation have been remedied. A student may only be re-enrolled in a course once. CREDIT FOR PRIOR TRAINING A
student may receive credit towards Aero-Tech curriculum requirements for prior training if the training has been completed in the previous 3 years and endorsed by a FAA Certified Flight Instructor. Aero-Tech will
determine the amount of credit to be transferred in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations based on a logbook review, and Proficiency Exam or Knowledge Exam or both. Credit will be reported to the VA. The
maximum allowable transferable credit is one-half of Aero-Tech's total course requirements. Aero-Tech course training requirements and costs will be reduced by the credit transferred.
GRADUATION Aero-Tech will recommend a student for a pilot certificate or rating after the student has completed all of the curriculum requirements of that course and passed
the required final exams. A student has not graduated a course until the FAA Checkride has been passed with the Aero-Tech Designated Pilot Examiner. Upon graduation, the student will receive a graduation
certificate suitable for framing in addition to their FAA certificate.
