Customers Speak

I want to thank you for the excellent flight instruction I have.received over the years from you. I thought our last recurrent work was the best yet. I was astounded when, at the beginning, you asked me what I thought I needed. Then we addressed those areas.
Thank you,
Barry Morris,
Aerostar Owner

Frank Allen, Check Instructor, G-1000 Expert, LEX
Students really enjoy Frank's easy-going teaching style. It's simple: Safety first, checklist and trim. Frank's playful mantra can often be heard: "Don't sweat the small stuff - take care of the important stuff." On the more serious side, Frank also lavishes praise on students when they reach a high standard. "I love taking a stressed-out guy who's lost the jazz - and show him how to get it back - and how to make it fun."."  With great people and exciting planes - it's easy to do.

Kris Blasius, Check Instructor, Bonanza Expert, LEX
"I know how important it is that a pilot FEEL confident and comfortable. I dedicate 110% to my students, so they can go where they want and do what they wish as pilots. My greatest reward as an instructor is to see my students reach their goals. I'm happy to be working at a great place that gives the instructors the tools and resources that we need to make the very best, safest pilots anywhere." Kris has recently passed the ATP knowledge exam with an impressive score. Congratulations Kris.

R caldwell

Regina Caldwell, Sport Instructor, LEX
Regina comes to us from Brazil, where she was a pilot with 3,000 hours hours, flying the ATR42-300, Fokker 27, Embraer 110, and the C208B. Regina began her carrier in 1992 as a flight attendant (this is how she fell in love with the cockpit!) and advanced from a flight attendant instructor and examiner to an airline pilot and a flight safety officer. In 2003 Regina got married and moved to the USA. Presently Regina is a Flight Instructor with a Sport Rating working towards additional FAA certificates. "I am very happy to be part of this very special team and very proud to be an instructor at Aero-Tech. Above and beyond - safety is the name of the game, right?"

John Davis

John Davis, Training Center Instructor
John is a retired US Airways 767 captain. He's logged 25,000 flight hours in a little bit of everything. He's been in challenging situations and brings his experience to your recurrent training environment. Today he leads the Aero-Tech activities in the simulator center, specializing in the recurrent training needs of our complex single and multi piston customers. Each training session with John is intense and is a true practical-learning experience. Patty Hadley, Administrative Assistant, K24
"The people are what's its all about ... the people here are awesome!" Originally from Cincinnati, OH, Patty was bought in to keep the maintenance department organized and under control. "I feel fortunate that the people I work with are true professionals who care about not just the planes they work on but the people who will be riding in those planes." Patty just purchased a new house where she lives with her dog and mom.

dan kaberle

Dan Kaberle, CFII LEX
Dan graduated from Minnesota State University Mankato with a BS degree in Aviation. "I always knew that I wanted to be a pilot, and I finally got the bug in 2002. I believe that an instructor must maintain the highest degree of professionalism and that continuing education is important for all instructors. I'm glad to be working at Aero-Tech, flying these beautiful airplanes and working with the greatest bunch of people anywhere."

Jeff Leach, IA, K24
We transplanted Jeff, his family and horses from Panama City, FL to work with us. We fell in love with his easy going style immediately. Jeff loves to tease and cut up during breaks, but on the job, he's intent and methodical. Jeff's tool box is the largest in all the land - the right tool for everything and everything neatly placed in it's special spot. Overtime? "No problem", says Jeff, "I'm here until the job is done." Jeff is working on his IA and hope to have it complete soon. Att-a-boy Jeff!

Paul Lucas, Instructor, LEX
Paul first started flying with Aero-Tech at the age of 11. He worked for several summers as a dispatcher and today he is a flight instructor working toward an aviation degree. He attends Purdue University, but returns home each summer and on breaks to instruct at his favorite flight school. Aero-Tech, of course - "... I just always keep coming back to Aero-Tech." According to Paul, "learning to fly isn't difficult, but it does require discipline. Its my job to help make the learning curve as easy and fun as possible."

Arlynn McMahon, Training Center Manager, LEX
Arlynn soloed on her 16th birthday. Received her Private on her 17th, a commercial on her 18th and missed her ATP on her 23rd by 3 days due to weather. Today she is active conducting insurance approved, recurrent training for pilots flying complex-singles and cabin-class twins. "Aero-Tech is actually 2 flights schools under one roof - Part 141 initial certification training AND the recurrent training associated with a Part 142 Training Center. Customers get lifelong training at Aero-Tech." Click to see Arlynn's complete resume.

Charlie

Charlie Monette, Pilot Examiner, LEX
Our founder and President is an active Training Center instructor for recurrent training programs. Its normal for him to fly a Lancair, a Duke, a Malibu and a Saratoga all in a single days work.  "I believe that flying should be safe, fun and it should be easy."  It doesn't matter if you're piloting a 172 or a Piper Malibu - the basics of being a good aviation citizen are the same. Charlie is an ATP and FAA designated pilot examiner.  When he's not at the airport, Charlie enjoys sailing and snow skiing - and when you live in KY that's a very good reason to be a pilot. See Charlie's full resume.

Jeff Mehling, Instructor, LEX
Jeff is a true pro who really cares about his students and their success.  Jeff's instruction style is easy-going with lots of ""atta-boy's" and "goooood job!"s.  "I want every lesson to be a knowledge-filled trip for my customer!   There is no better place to fly than at Aero-Tech. I chose to work here over other flight schools because the staff is supportive, the place is professional and the aircraft are EX-cell-ent."  Jeff is a student of aviation with multiple prestigious degrees in aviation, flight and aviation-administration.

Wayne Poole , Director of Maintenance, IA, K24
Wayne says, " I AM smiling!" Having been in aviation all his live, Wayne has over 30 years aviation maintenance experience in general aviation, airline and transport class aircraft.  Wayne's first day of work at Aero-Tech was on 9/11.  Prior to coming to Aero-Tech, he worked as an aviation mechanic in Africa. We are thrilled to have him here. Wayne earned an FAA AMT Award in 2003. He and his staff are responsive and prompt to fix maintenance issues.

Valerie Salven

Valerie Salven , Ground Instructor, LEX
Valerie earned her ratings at Aero-Tech.  She is most famous as a featured author published many times in Plane & Pilot Magazine.  Valerie's most memorable flight was to Key West.  She hopes to make flying fun and easier for students by teaching practical applications to information. Valerie authors some of our simulator curriculums. Her curriculums are unique to allow pilots to "do it, then go back do the flight again, making a different decision to see how the outcome changes." She teaches ground schools and test preps and serves as our CATS Testing Center Supervisor.

Graig Satkamp, Instructor, G-1000 Expert, Columbia 400, LEX
Graig has given hundreds of hours of flight instruction in a wide range of venues including university programs, flying clubs, and in customer owned aircraft. "I believe in giving my student practical training. I want my students to say, "I've seen this before and I know how to handle it." I also like to think that students are learning every minute we're together and not forgetting to have fun in the process." Graig holds a Professional Aviation BS Degree from from Indiana State University - Terra Haute.
