Customers Speak

I want to thank you for the excellent flight instruction I have.received over the years from you. I thought our last recurrent work was the best yet. I was astounded when, at the beginning, you asked me what I thought I needed. Then we addressed those areas.
     Thank you,
     Barry Morris,

PROFILE OF MY PRIVATE PILOT CHECKRIDE WITH CHARLIE MONETTE

Charlie Monette - Training Center Instructor

Full biographies of each Training Center Instructor are published online because they provide instruction in customer-owned aircraft. The customer's insurance underwriters require our specifics.

Charlie began his aviation career as a radar controller in the USAF. He utilized VA benefits for pilot training. In 1971, shortly after completing instructor certification, Charlie founded Aero-Tech and has been President since.

Aero-Tech was a part-time passion for Charlie, being gainfully employed as an IBM engineer. He brings 30 years of IBM business-background and customer service standards to Aero-Tech. Now retired from IBM, he still loves to fly aircraft and instruct pilots. He still supervises the daily training regimes at Aero-Tech and believes in "management by walking around."

Charlie is an active Multi-Engine Airline Transport Pilot. His 14,000 accident-free, incident -free, violation-free hours range in aircraft as diverse as a J3 Cub, Cirrus SR20, and Lancair to a Lear 25. His flight assignments have been equally as diverse: banner tow, aerial traffic and fire patrol, Part 135 Air Taxi, instructor pilot and maintenance-ferry pilot. Charlie has flown as PIC to destinations throughout the US, Canada, Caribbean, and Central America - as far away as LaCeiba, Honduras and Anchorage AK - all in general aviation aircraft.

An active flight instructor since 1969, he has logged over 6,600 hours of dual given. He has been a busy FAA Designated Pilot Examiner for single engine and multi-engine airplanes since 1992 with the LOU FSDO. He provides regular pilot services in several corporate aircraft including a Navajo, Aerostar, Duke and Malibu.

The Kentucky Aviation Association has honored Charlie twice: in 1993 with the KAA Certificate of Achievement Award and again in 1994 with the KAA President's Award. He served as Aero-Tech's Air-Taxi line pilot from 1983 to 1997 and as 135 Check Airman from 1989 to 1994 in the CE-414 and CE-335.

Charlie serves as a consultant to the aviation industry. He was one of eight people active on the national Cessna Aircraft Company Advisory Panel, providing input and direction for the New-Production Cessna products. Charlie is proficient in Technically Advanced Aircraft and Avionics (TAA). He is authorized as a instructor for Cirrus and Lancair. He is also a Cessna FITS Factory Authorized Instructor (CFAI).
